Calgary Plastic Cards

Calgary Plastic Cards

Calgary Plastic Cards Website Design

Calgary Plastic Cards is a revolutionary Calgary graphic design company that can turn your company image into a corporate brand. Right at the crest of wave, Calgary plastic cards provides a complete service for making one of a kind business cards, or wallet sized cards for any purpose. These innovative cards are stylish and functional and can serve a multitude of uses. Building a web site to reflect this forward thinking, sophisticated yet pragmatic product was going to showcase our skills and we wanted to ensure we matched the ground breaking style of the product.

The development concept was to make the web pages focus on the images of the product. By making a frame round a central panel and recessing the background by judicial use of color, the perfect backdrop is set to create a focal point that thrusts the images into prominence. By using this framed approach to every page a cohesion is achieved that binds the site esthetically and creates a familiarity for the user. Black was the ideal color to use as a frame as it adds a depth and makes a strong statement about where the artistic boundary lies. The frame also allowed the flexibility needed to accommodate the differing sizes and resolutions used in hand held and mobile devices. The quality of the web page on these devices had to be as accurate as monitor images to maintain the integrity of the brand.

The logo was added as a static image in the top right hand corner to add a pop of color on every page, and a navigation button to automatically direct you back to the logo in a cycle. By continually referencing the brand and using the brand colors solidifies the corporate image and grounds the design to a foundation. This also allowed the composition to embrace color to showcase the product. A simple menu was added with a subtle block indicator reflecting brand colors for easy navigation and positive corporate image reinforcement.

A video was added without text that brought out the unique qualities of Plastic Cards in a simple, easy to digest format. It also added another device to feed a different sense making the product more memorable, and bonding the viewer to the brand.

The success of the website was immediate and apparent, with Calgary Plastic Cards making full use of their custom website and unique wordpress design to propel them to achieving their business goals.

Guerrilla Marketing that Works

Great Guerrilla Marketing

Yoga Marketing Needs That Special Touch

Purple Sun Yoga

Balance

Purple Sun Yoga was a concept client who had a detailed brief of what they required for a successful conclusion to the project. The idea was that they knew what they felt would work and how they wanted to achieve, but were still open to artistic interpretation for some of the elements of the design. We knew we could make the brief, they required, work as it was based around the premise of the name of the brand, but we also knew we
needed to extrapolate the idea to make it concepts stunning.

Confidence

The colour palette choices are always a major player in the design process. The concept client wanted all purple, so we carefully selected shades and tones of calming mauves, luxurious lilacs and robust royal hues. TO soften the effect of monochrome art we decided to use a subtle graduated background to take away the harsh lines that can come from the contrast of monochrome. It also gave the suggestion of sunshine across the images. Purple is traditionally the colour believed to be the most ideal as it is a mix of red and
blue, the warmest and coolest colours. Any shade or hue of purple is believed to be majestic, fulfilling, peaceful and mysterious. We wanted to create a feeling of balance and majesty in our design, supportingit with grace and style in the imagery.

Elegance

Purple Sun Yoga helped us choose the best poses to encapsulate a feeling of calm elegance which we placed in the image to maximize the exposure of the sun. We decided using suggested silhouettes for the outside shots to focus the attention on the enhanced purple sun, making sure that the sky was highlighted by clouds of sun spots to make it the dominant force in the photo. For the indoor shots we decided to use the antithesis of the location shots by creating a blank background and superimposing a sun design to highlight the brand ethos. The logos we created for Purple Sun were interchangeable, with
the layout of the design being the brand. This allowed us to use the same format and colour for each design formatting continuity, but to introduce other design elements without a major change.

David Still is a man of vision. Naturally inquisitive and inherently artistic, he spends much of his time leading a successful business, volunteering in the community and exploring the world around him. With an insatiable thirst for quality that he displays in all areas of his life, David works tirelessly and without compromise to raise the bar on every project to which he commits. He works with the ethos that there are no limitations or barriers to success, unless you put them there.

Whilst attending the prestigious Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, David achieved a BSc in Physics and Astrophysics. The University discipline and the ability to amass, internalize and apply information fuelled his appetite for knowledge that drove him to stay to further his educational opportunities. David went on to successfully attain a carefully chosen BA in Economics broadening his horizon to create a unique career path.

A passion for combining both his educational achievements from Queens then lead David to the University of Calgary where he studied a Master’s degree in Health Economics. This drive for excellence and the desire to exceed all boundaries took David around the world working on projects that changed lives and built communities. Armed with this experience and an aspiration to educate and create new standards David published a series of papers on a range of topics which became highly regarded.

With a solid foundation of business and a working knowledge of success David’s career began to take shape. Having nurtured a keen interest in photography by extensive travel and adventure, and having a natural eye for the artistic, David chose to use his experience to pursue a course in digital media. It didn’t take long for his enthusiasm to change the course of business, and for him to create avenues that were unexplored, proving his guiding principle that fortune favours the bold.

There soon came a time in David’s career that his uncompromising drive for quality and vision could only be fed by the creation of his own company. Socialization in the Business World ...

The Art of Social Media

Social media is vast and intimidating place to be. With all the smooth talkers, posters, bloggers and writers out there it isn’t easy to know who to trust, or what to believe. Trust me on this, it’s all written by people like me … If you search hard enough you’ll find enthusiastic research or authoritative articles to back up anything you want to. With this plethora of information it’s hard not to become cynical about the hype and think of social media and one huge rumor mill.

Whatever you have read or heard remember this one thing, social media has huge value in the marketing world because social media has a huge value in the life of ordinary people. Knowing how to use it to reach the people you want to influence is the art of social media. Before you can embark on a successful journey into making social media work for you, you need to understand several basic facts.

Firstly, whatever the latest post or article you read says, social media is not a panacea for all marketing ills. There are many that would tell you that it will reach every person on the planet and a few little green men on Mars with one post, but it just isn’t true. Social media alone will not make a great impact on your marketing, at its most basic level, social media is simply another tool to implement your whole digital media strategy.

Another thing to remember as you begin to work your social media, is that it works best as a prospecting tool. It also has a lot of value with PR, but it will not produce AND convert leads without a significant amount of labor and a total digital strategy. Social media puts ‘you’ out there, it can get you noticed, it can inform.  If you want to make the most impact – be memorable. Be relevant. Most of all, be interesting. It’s not called ‘social’ media for nothing. It’s an avenue to ‘talk’ to people as you would face to face, rather than through a promotion. It has a ‘human’ element about it that attracts potential customers, but without being memorable, relevant or interesting it won’t attract many, and retain even less.

One of the biggest advantages of social media most often overlooked is the ability it has to let you listen. With a good digital strategy, you can use social media to tap into what people are saying, liking and buying, but more than that, you can also see what they need, don’t have or could use that isn’t available. If you take the time to listen, rather than promote like a bull at a gate, you’ll be much more in tune with your market and be there with what they need, when they need it.

Have you tried social media and it hasn’t worked for you? You need to wait for the snowball. Being persistent in your efforts will cause a little ripple, so don’t expect to post three things on a Friday afternoon and be flooded by orders on Monday. As you consistently post, listen, work the chat and nurture your followers on a daily basis the magic of social media starts to take effect. It can take months, but it will get to stage where you are being quoted, reposted, retweeted and liked like a boss, and you haven’t posted a thing because you’ve been on beach in Ibiza for a week. It’s what you do every day that contains the power of social media, and once it has gained momentum, it won’t stop – even if you want it to.

There is an art to social media and it is one that is worth learning. Social media may not mean the death of hard promotions, trade shows and sales men, but it will be powerful ammunition in your sales armory. Social media is not about selling to people you’re connected to, it’s about being connected to the people you sell to. Learn it. Work it. Love it. It’s the future.

Web Site Design That Makes the Grade

Website Design

If you listen to chatter at the gym and on the internet, building a strong, corporate branding web site is easy. Anyone can build a web site – and it’s true, they can. But simply building a web site, and building a successful, responsive, results driven web site that generates business and fulfills business goals that move your company forward, are not the same thing.

Do you know the difference between professional web design and using premade templates or outsourcing? Your customer does. The creative quality, technical direction and feel of your web site is what ignites the attraction and sears the corporate branding on to the customer. Ease of use, text, graphics, relevance, expression all play a part in an effective web site that demands to be explored. Your web site needs a voice to stand out amongst the sea of templates and the prepackaged web sites that bombard the senses of every person that logs on. That voice needs to be, loud, clear and attractive. As a general rule, you can’t buy that off the shelf.

Creating the most effective web site starts with knowing the value of your online real estate. What can that space do for you? We have the creative, technical and marketing experience to make you a one of a kind web site that will make the right first impression, have the quality behind it – the quality expected of any corporate brand – and keeps unfolding and impressing with a strong, clear voice that accurately states your company brand and what it can do for your customers. Consumers are looking to spend their money somewhere, why not use your web site to make sure it’s you?

Website Design is not about code and glitches, it’s about three words: TIME. RELEVANCE. USEABILITY. By taking advantage of our talented, creative and marketing minded website design team you are saving time, increasing relevance to your chosen demographic and making your biggest ‘shop window’ more useable, accessible and engaging. You’re in the business to make money, right? Our web development team know this is your goal, so they make it their goal, and have almost endless ways to help you fulfill it.

Do you know the value of your online real estate and its relationship to your corporate branding? We do…and it starts with great website design.

What do you know about a 'Brand'?

http://www.arcreactions.com/services/brand-development/

The Basics of Branding Learn what this critical business term means and what you can do to establish one for your company. Branding is one of the most important aspects of any business, large or small, retail or B2B. An effective brand strategy gives you a major edge in increasingly competitive markets. But what exactly does "branding" mean? How does it affect a small business like yours? Simply put, your brand is your promise to your customer. It tells them what they can expect from your products and services, and it differentiates your offering from your competitors'.

Your brand is derived from who you are, who you want to be and who people perceive you to be. Are you the innovative maverick in your industry? Or the experienced, reliable one? Is your product the high-cost, high-quality option, or the low-cost, high-value option? You can't be both, and you can't be all things to all people. Who you are should be based to some extent on who your target customers want and need you to be. The foundation of your brand is your logo. Your website, packaging and promotional materials--all of which should integrate your logo--communicate your brand. Brand Strategy & Equity Your brand strategy is how, what, where, when and to whom you plan on communicating and delivering on your brand messages. Where you advertise is part of your brand strategy. Your distribution channels are also part of your brand strategy. And what you communicate visually and verbally are part of your brand strategy, too.

Consistent, strategic branding leads to a strong brand equity, which means the added value brought to your company's products or services that allows you to charge more for your brand than what identical, unbranded products command. The most obvious example of this is Coke vs. a generic soda. Because Coca-Cola has built a powerful brand equity, it can charge more for its product--and customers will pay that higher price. The added value intrinsic to brand equity frequently comes in the form of perceived quality or emotional attachment. For example, Nike associates its products with star athletes, hoping customers will transfer their emotional attachment from the athlete to the product. For Nike, it's not just the shoe's features that sell the shoe. Defining Your Brand Defining your brand is like a journey of business self-discovery.

It can be difficult, time-consuming and uncomfortable. It requires, at the very least, that you answer the questions below: What is your company's mission? What are the benefits and features of your products or services? What do your customers and prospects already think of your company? What qualities do you want them to associate with your company? Do your research. Learn the needs, habits and desires of your current and prospective customers. And don't rely on what you think they think. Know what they think. Because defining your brand and developing a brand strategy can be complex, consider leveraging the expertise of a nonprofit small-business advisory group or a Small Business Development Center .

Once you've defined your brand, how do you get the word out? Here are a few simple, time-tested tips: Get a great logo. Place it everywhere. Write down your brand messaging. What are the key messages you want to communicate about your brand? Every employee should be aware of your brand attributes. Integrate your brand. Branding extends to every aspect of your business--how you answer your phones, what you or your salespeople wear on sales calls, your e-mail signature, everything. Create a "voice" for your company that reflects your brand. This voice should be applied to all written communication and incorporated in the visual imagery of all materials, online and off. Is your brand friendly? Be conversational. Is it ritzy? Be more formal. You get the gist.

Develop a tagline. Write a memorable, meaningful and concise statement that captures the essence of your brand. Design templates and create brand standards for your marketing materials. Use the same color scheme, logo placement, look and feel throughout. You don't need to be fancy, just consistent. Be true to your brand. Customers won't return to you--or refer you to someone else--if you don't deliver on your brand promise. Be consistent. I placed this point last only because it involves all of the above and is the most important tip I can give you. If you can't do this, your attempts at establishing a brand will fail.

Industrial design that sells

http://www.arcreactions.com/haus-leffer/

Haus & Leffer Ageless Our concept client, Haus and Leffer, are a constant, modern, visionary architect’s practice that excels at making astoundingly beautiful buildings that stand as monuments to ingenuity and engineering. The idea was that they wanted a portfolio to reflect their commitment to the ideologies of excellence, distinction, perfection but also to accent the ability to fuse art and function. The concepts we worked on flowed around architectural shapes and patterns which molded a logo into a brand. Arches were a reoccurring theme and embodied the feel of style, strength and structure.

The font that was carefully selected reflected the classical theme that the brand evoked and complimented the impression of stature. Boundless The targeted demographic indicated that the colour that most suggested quality, efficiency and durability was rich tones of the yellow spectrum. Complimentary brown was used to ground the images, with a lighter shade of the same ochre hue to highlight and give form, and a pale grey selected to offset and contrast the earthy tones.

The unique brand we created needed to have a solid background to make it ‘pop’ from the page. By constructing a shaded foundation using three colours from the chosen palette, the logo underpin gave the brand depth and consistency. Ceaseless It was important to include pivotal images of flagship buildings that Haus and Leffer had designed, but add an eclectic mix of classical statues to provide a foil to offset the modern. To add a trail of cohesion to the portfolio a colour from the chosen palette was taken and digitally grafted to the select portions of the image. This heightened the artistic interpretation of the image, accentuated the architectural elements but most importantly seared the brand identity on to the image.

The flat media was also bound to the same identity by using reoccurring principles of brand ownership. By maintaining the integrity and continuity of the artistic flow, the complete portfolio was many facets of the same campaign, and though individual, they were also bound as one.

The deluge has been so consistent that those looking for information can afford to ‘flick’ through it at speed until they find something that engages with them.

With this rapid searching the chances of being seen are greatly increased, but the downside is the fact that the window of opportunity can be very small. You have only a brief moment to introduce yourself, your products or your services to your audience, so make every moment succinctly eloquent with creative and expressive videography. We at Arc Reactions pride ourselves on being the premier resource for unique marketing solutions, Calgary custom websites and successful graphic designs that provide the exposure needed for business growth.

One way we achieve such stunning results is the use of well produced, directed and edited videography. By using a visual message more of the senses are stimulated and a clearer, more profound and powerful statement is carried to the target demographic. Creative videography simplifies a message that can often transcend barriers difficult to surmount, such as language, geography and recognition. Whatever your needs a video can establish communication and build a bond by putting a face to a corporate culture, creating a more expressive picture of your product or service and engender trust. It can be done so effectively that the video can become the ‘shop widow’ to bring you, and your product, to a new audience.

Well executed and ingenious videography can build a rapport with the consumer and give you the advantage of being ‘face to face’ with them 24 hours a day, seven days a week – whenever you are needed. Our team of professional videographers intimately know the useable areas of Calgary, custom websites and marketing concepts that make a unique and engaging message that can strongly represent the values of your company branding as well as you do.

5 Reasons Why You Need Video Marketing

5 Reasons Why You Need Video Marketing

http://www.arcreactions.com/services/videography/

For weeks we’ve been preaching about why we believe video is such a crucial part of any marketing campaign, especially in the Attention Era. Not only is it a great way for potential clients and customers to get a sense of who you are as a business, but it also a lot more entertaining then reading pages of text.

Businesses who have harnessed the power of video marketing are seeing some remarkable results. If you still don’t believe in the power of video, here are five numbers that might just make you a believer:

1) 100 million The number of internet users who watch online videos each day. These are not just people looking at videos of cats all day, these are legitimate consumers looking for more information about a product, service, or advice on how to do something.

2) 90% The percentage of online shoppers who said they find video helpful when making buying decisions. Retailers who provide online video for their products have found that those items with a video sell a lot more than products without a video.

3) 64% This is how much more likely consumers are to buy a product from an online retailer after watching a video. Not to mention, visitors who watch videos on that site stay an average of two minutes longer on the website.

4) 200% A survey given to businesses in 2010 by the Forrester Marketing group found that when marketers included a marketing or explanation video click through rates rose 200-300%, a huge increase!

5) 1.8 Million Words According to Dr. James McQuivery of Forrester Research, that is the value of one minute of video. That equates to about 3,600 typical sized web pages, which would take you 150 days to write if you wrote one an hour. Do you have that kind of time? Certainly not in the Attention Era! So what does all this mean? Well if you’re not using video you’re missing out on a huge market! Not to mention, you’re leaving the door wide open for your competition to beat you to the punch.

No one likes to play catch up, so get on the video marketing bandwagon now, while there’s still room! Don’t take our word for it try it for yourself, cliche yes, but true. Give video a shot on your website, blog, facebook page, or even just to email to clients. The difference for you will be night and day! As always thanks for your attention!

Yoga needs marketing

http://www.arcreactions.com/purple-sun-yoga/

Purple Sun Yoga Balance Purple Sun Yoga was a concept client who had a detailed brief of what they required for a successful conclusion to the project. The idea was that they knew what they felt would work and how they wanted to achieve, but were still open to artistic interpretation for some of the elements of the design. We knew we could make the brief, they required, work as it was based around the premise of the name of the brand, but we also knew we needed to extrapolate the idea to make it concepts stunning.

Confidence The colour palette choices are always a major player in the design process. Purple is traditionally the colour believed to be the most ideal as it is a mix of red and blue, the warmest and coolest colours.

Any shade or hue of purple is believed to be majestic, fulfilling, peaceful and mysterious. We wanted to create a feeling of balance and majesty in our design, supportingit with grace and style in the imagery. Elegance Purple Sun Yoga helped us choose the best poses to encapsulate a feeling of calm elegance which we placed in the image to maximize the exposure of the sun.

The logos we created for Purple Sun were interchangeable, with the layout of the design being the brand. This allowed us to use the same format and colour for each design formatting continuity, but to introduce other design elements without a major change.

Picking a good post

http://www.arcreactions.com/blog-post2/

Picking a Good Post Not even as long a decade ago, teams of marketing people would sit round a table, then a desk ,then light box to produce a powerful and enticing image to get you to consider their product as the one you NEED to have. Today, whilst marketing gurus with goatee beards and red pointed shoes still sit round the table and discuss concepts, slavishly following the same lengthy process, fleshy bites of promotion are thrown to the consumers in real time via social media. These mighty morsels that whet the appetites of potential customers, customers and competitors alike are becoming an important part of building up an audience for the upcoming promotions, so much so that they have taken on a whole persona of their own.

Being in ‘the now’ has never been so important. But just simply ‘being in the now’ is no longer enough to influence people. Social media used to be run by the over worked and underpaid office junior or acne ridden intern, who’s only goal was to ‘fill up the space’ and hit send, but this random attitude of quantity over quality now is detrimental to the marketing of a brand. Taking the time to choose the right post is the only way to find yourself at the top of the feed and multiplying rapidly. Picking the right post has never been so important.

Creating the perfect post that goes viral is the Nirvana all social media writers seek, but writing is not enough. Most viral posts start with a good quality, expressive image. If a picture paints a thousand words – make every one of them count. Choose a picture that is clear, well composed and has an alluring clue as to the content of the post. The image will always make the first impression, and in 99% of the cases, become the deciding factor of whether the content is read or passed over.

There is a vast range of free photos available on the internet, you are literally spoiled for choice, but check copyright before you post them. Just because they are in the public arena does not mean they are a visual free for all. As human creatures we are visual learners. Out of preference we will go for information with a picture on it rather than one with text. Don’t believe me? Think about road signs. How many times have you been lost in a new city by not paying attention to road signs, or text based map signs – as opposed to falling off a cliff or getting hit by a moose, which are all purely picture based signs? I rest my case.

One thing that has been a recent innovation all social media followers have taken to heart is the rise of the … infographic. Infographics are exactly what they say they are – information in a graphic form. Any one remotely interested in a desk top publishing platform is able to make one, but there are infographics already made on every subject. Hats, wars, doughnuts from the 1950’s – they all have at least two infographics on them, and on social media they spread like wild fire. People love to learn, and using a visual platform easily feeds that hunger. There is even a serious bonus, visual based information it easy to retain and recall. Why else do those men and women in goatees and pointy red shoes spend so much time and money on logos?

One adage you need to ALWAYS remember when working with any media – Content is King, and you need to be King Content of the Content people. Make your pictures interesting, pleasing, informative, but make your writing more engaging, entertaining and enriching than any visual image. No amount of professional photography will make up for boring content. Maybe it’s time to promote your intern to ‘coffee and donut runner’ and find someone to manage your media who can draw the people in, and get your name out. That’s what the medium does best. So next time you’re looking at your web page, twitter feed or you’re stumbling upon, remember what you see is exactly what the world sees. Three pictures of yesterday’s coffee, a joke from the 1970’s and a grumpy cat is not really going to pull the hordes in flashing their money at you. A little time spent thinking about what to say and dressing it up ‘pretty’ may just mean it’s your turn to be King Content of the Content people. Next stop – red pointy shoes and a goatee…

USB sticks need to be custom printed - ingenious marketing!

http://www.arcreactions.com/usb-memory-sticks-2/

USB Memory Sticks We live in a digital world. Anything that is important, used often or needed multiple times can be transferred electronically and carried in your pocket – and it doesn’t matter too much on the size. The USB memory stick has become an everyday piece of technology that most people have somewhere on hand for a digital emergency. By sad experience we have all learned the need to be ready to download something important at any moment. In a digital crisis – USB sticks are currency. Because of this the humble USB stick has been elevated to a position of prominence.

A USB stick is a much wanted item. If you put one down it will mysteriously disappear without a trace and not resurface until it has changed hands several times. This is a phenomenal opportunity for corporate brand marketing. Imagine a branded USB stick that has your logo on, in your company colors and your business name and phone number being used and reused, and passed around the office. The ‘Wow’ factor is 100%, with 95% ‘Ooooh’ factor thrown in. With our talented graphic design team you can create a USB stick that expresses the forward thinking and practical nature of your company, and offers something that will be desired by most people that see it, setting the trend for all others in the industry to follow.

There are only a few limitations to the designs that can be included on the USB sticks, but the style, type and size of stick can be tailored to your needs. The body color can be completely customized to match, compliment or contrast your company colors, and the custom printing can be tailored to single or multicolor text and brand. No matter how simple you may decide to go, commissioning custom printed USB sticks will ensure you, and your company, are remembered. If you offer a catalogue or manual and are looking to downsize your printing costs a practical and impressive way to save money is to use a branded USB stick loaded with the digital information. Promotional material and design specs can also be handed out with ease and at a relatively low cost with these desirable, attractive and memorable USB sticks. Want to raise the bar on your brand marketing? Talk to us at Arc Reactions. The only question we’ll ask is – how high?

Furniture sales needs marketing like this

http://www.arcreactions.com/plush/

Plush Elegant The Modernist movement in art was a period of time where lines were sleek and clean with a debridement of anything that could be construed as clutter. Plush Modern Furniture was a concept client that embodied the modernist movement and wanted the media campaign to reflect these core values. They wanted the whole effect to be simple, contemporary, visionary – almost radical – in feel, but still being appreciated by a larger demographic. This concept of clean, chic and uncluttered, we knew would be elegant in the images, but harder to portray in the printed media without looking barren.

To fuse art and elegance we had to take the elements of the design we could use and extrapolate them, even extort them, to become the design. Opulent The elements of the art we could use were words. This amounted to the name of the company. We had to make the name of the client the brand, and simplify everything else by the judicial use of open space. The printed copy concept was fashioned first to create a logo that would work as a minimalist design in open space.

To keep the lines simple and sleek we nestled the words within each other. If the line of the text created was elongated over the point of balance it would become clumsy and detract from the brand name. By layering the words over each other we created interest and depth without cluttering the image. Sumptuous The design was delicately accentuated with colour as the principle of contrast is a major part of the modern look. By selecting stark white and deep, warm red we created the suggestion of simple sumptuousness and chic class. This delicious contrast was used to offset the minimalist nature and add enough interest for it to be memorable, without destroying the modern theme.

The images we used played into this concept, with very simple, tightly cropped shots awash with natural lines running through the objects. To open the designs to a wider audience we also purposely included shots with bright products that were less strict in its application of modernist values, in a simple setting with warm tones that did not create contrasts. This bought the concept of modernism in the simple art and application, but warmed up by colour and concept.

Marketing that begs to be seen. That's the Arc Reactions Magic

http://www.arcreactions.com/yarns-academy/

Yarn’s Academy The Concept Yarn’s Academy was a challenging concept to create. The back-story of this concept company is that it was a professional company that had already established itself as a solid, dependable and reputable educational academy with high achievements. There is no ‘Wow’ factor in good quality education, and as the profession is as old as time it was a challenge to change its perception. With Yarn’s Academy, the company was the message. We needed to design a set of media that would bring about a fresh interpretation to an old perception. Often simple concepts are harder to define and visualize as you have very little to work with. The purpose of the media was that we needed to bring out the current face of an excellent product and make it crisp, youthful and engaged without buying in the stereotypical image.

The Choice With the company being the message we decided to revolve the marketing around the Academy’s crest. By creating a modern version of the crest we superimposed the statement that this was a well established company built on excellence, but also that it was a forward thinking, able to move with the times institution. The focus had to be on the crest, the brand of the company, meaning that apart from the image white space, the crest was used to sear the brand into the forefront. The simplicity of the design forced the crest to ‘pop’ off the page and be memorable. The brand then became the message. It was also important to link the brand to every page that had a photograph of the Academy. By using this approach the media sent out a clear message linking the visual cues to the brand. The Simplicity All the images we used had a theme of simplicity. As much as possible we used natural light to illuminate the subjects.

The light produced a bright, crisp, fresh look, and by removing the background noise, the images could focus on the dignity of the object. The engaged and purposeful posture of the students added a sense of excellence and confidence in the Academy, whilst bringing out the human element of the school. The whole effect of the project came together very successfully, leaving a sense of purpose and satisfaction in creating a new twist on a classic theme.

Paradigm marketing - an exercise in the perfect marketing campaign

http://www.arcreactions.com/paradigm/

Conception

To create the marketing project for our concept company, Paradigm, we were allowed carte blanche on all concepts of portfolio. The idea was that the invented client had no precognitive ideas about how, why or where the media should go and was happy to let us conceive, create and communicate the marketing message. The word ‘paradigm’ means in essence, ‘Your view of reality’. This idea that you created your own reality was very exciting and quickly became the firm foundation we knew we could weave into a credible, artistic and spectacular campaign. The driving concept was that we used unfamiliar and exotic images, infused with rich and opulent colour that had a familiar atmosphere so the viewer could imagine themselves in that place or in that setting.

Creation

As with all successful media campaigns, there needed to be an anchor running through all the images to link the company into a brand. We decided to use a striking, easily interpreted letter based anchor created in strong, contrasting colours that would not be lost amongst the images, but would complement them and add a strong facet of cohesion. Yellow is a colour traditionally associated with effervescence so we chose a vibrant yellow in tone and hue. The complimentary colour of yellow is blue, but we needed to be careful to select exactly the right shade so that the word art ‘popped’ off the page. The brand logo needed to be able to stand out from the exotic and intoxicating photo. A simple spiral was digitally drawn to symbolize fashioning your own path, and to follow the ‘creating of your own view of reality’ we free-styled the spiral giving it a bohemian appeal.

Communication

The branding had purposeful placement so that the continuity of concept flowed through the whole portfolio. Choosing the images for the campaign became easy as we fused the colours of blue and yellow through the graphics, or highlighted splashes of the colours naturally within the image. By using digital manipulation we were able to match the colors of the brand that were found in the photos perfectly fusing the image and brand into one and solidifying the concepts behind the media. We were thrilled with the artistic, expressive and professional outcome of the project.
